New Middle East chief takes reins at WD
Western Digital appoints new senior sales manager for region following departure of MD
Western Digital has moved swiftly to fill the management vacancy at its Middle East operation by installing Khwaja Saifuddin as senior sales manager for the region.
Saifuddin is well-versed in the IT market having notched up nine years' experience working for companies such as Emitac and Samsung prior to joining Western Digital four years ago.
Western Digital believes its decision to make an internal appointment will afford it stability as it seeks to build on its leadership of the Middle East hard drive market.
"Saifuddin has excellent relations with all of our regional customers and has a significant understanding of their priorities," said Peter Edinger, VP EMEA sales at the vendor. "Saifuddin and his team will guarantee continuity and stability as we continue to capitalise on WD's strong position in the Middle Eastern market."
Saifuddin steps into the shoes of Hafeez Khawaja, who set up WD's Dubai-based operation and made a "significant contribution" during his 13-year tenure, according to Edinger. Khawaja left Western Digital last week following discussions over the direction of the vendor's business and its strategy to expand activities in various market segments.
