Work smart on the move

Aruba Networks' team is heading to GITEX Business Solutions this year to explain to both corporate and public sector delegates how its wireless networking technologies can help their end users work more effectively when on the move.

"When a customer buys a secure and managed wireless solution from Aruba, we put a managed, secure controller in its main office, and then give the end user a small access point," explains Khalid Laban, Aruba's vice president for the Middle East and Africa. "This they can then use at home, in a hotel, wherever they go... all they need to do is power on their laptop and connect to the access point. That's what we call free mobility - it's really a moving office."

According to Laban, wireless networking technology has had its work cut out making an big initial impact in this region, not least because of the technology's perceived lack of data security, however this is gradually changing he says.

‘The market is definitely becoming more accepting of wireless technology, and users are trusting more in its safety and security," Laban states. "At an enterprise level, with solutions such as Aruba's you can really give yourself an option to connect very securely to the corporate network, from home, without having to worry about the risk of the wireless signal going astray, such as its being used by your neighbours for instance."

In its early years of Middle East operation, Aruba was solely a Dubai-based provider, however in the last couple of years the firm has reached out into Saudi Arabia through its opening of offices in Riyadh and Al Khobar. As far as its future growth is concerned, Aruba is now planning similar moves into other territories next.
