Dubai Airport and Free Zone Authority (DAFZA) is aiming to develop contacts with organisations seeking to establish operations in the Middle East market.

"GITEX Technology Week is important to our success. Almost 20% to 25% of investors have been met during the show in the last 10 years," reveals Salah Eltayeb, corporate media relations and communications executive at DAFZA.

DAFZA continues to witness enormous growth and has helped a number of large technology companies establish a presence in Dubai. Its location remains a major attraction for firms desiring close proximity to the airport and assistance with laying down the foundations of a successful business in the region. DAFZA provides an extensive set of licensing, lease and employee services, as well as IT services.

Companies involved in the IT products and accessories sector account for more than 20% of organisations based at the Dubai Airport Free Zone. Aviation, pharmaceutical and logistics companies also represent a large portion of Free Zone tennants.

"Last year we achieved 62% growth in the number of total companies compared with 2005," says Eltayeb. "For us, the show is a real vehicle that allows us to meet all of the foreign investors that represent our target audience. It is an opportunity to be under the same shelter as people from all walks of life and show them our services and facilities. We will have an opportunity to showcase the new things that we are implementing, including recruitment services and new internet systems, as well as promoting our expansion plans."
