Sharp aims to continue is regional resurgence at this year's GITEX Technology Week by previewing its prototype 108-inch LCD TV, which its regional boss claims is the largest display unit of its kind.

The electronics vendor will split its presence at the show between Consumer Electronics and GITEX Business Solutions, in order to leverage its enhanced regional presence in both the consumer and enterprise segments.

The company also aims to unveil its revamped regional branding at the event, which it believes will reinforce its commitment to the region.

The company returned to the GITEX Technology Week stage last year after a five-year hiatus and attributes this move as key to helping it "revitalise" its business in the region.

"Last year our regional market stood at below 5% in the LCD segment but our renewed push in the Middle East and Africa has propelled it towards 10%," claims Tomio Isogai, Sharp's managing director in the Middle East and Africa. "We see the Iranian market as having particularly strong potential," he adds.
