Hitachi plans high-def future

Hitachi Limited plans to blow its competitors out of the water at Consumer Technology through the unveiling of its range of cutting edge Full HD (High Definition) products.

Hitachi Limited plans to blow its competitors out of the water at Consumer Technology through the unveiling of its range of cutting edge Full HD (High Definition) products.

"We plan to launch our new Full HD line, which includes 60- and 50-inch plasma screens, in addition to 42-inch LCD displays," confirms Hitachi's marketing executive, Rohit Lohia.

Asked why the industry and consumers should be interested in these new ‘Full HD' displays rather than the current ‘HD' models on the market, Lohia explains, "Full HD displays can handle both the present and future HD content, which gives them greater longevity.

The current HD models, which only support 720p and 1080i resolutions, will automatically downscale the more detailed and sharper 1080p content to one of the two lower resolutions, and this means the audience gets a reduced visual experience. Since we are already seeing 1080p content on the market, buying a Full HD device now means you're completely ready for the future."
