Acision, the company created out of the Telecoms Products business of LogicaCMG, has formally launched in its own right this week.

LogicaCMG sold its Telecoms Products unit to a consortium of private equity buyers headed by Atlantic Bridge Ventures and industrial holding group Access Industries for US$525 million in February this year.

Acision begins as a business that generates approximately US$500 million in revenue annually and has more than 300 clients serving over 1 billion customers. The investors intend to build on LogicaCMG's heritage of pioneering innovation to expand its global market leadership position in intuitive messaging, intelligent charging, content enablement, and customer intelligence management for network operators, service providers, broadband operators, content owners and broadcasters.

The new firm employs approximately 1,700 staff in 22 countries, 100 of whom are based in MENA, accordiung to the regional managing director Nabil Khalil.

"The new Acision brand will focus exclusively on the telecoms sector," Khalil said. "Acision's presence in MENA reflects our continuous commitment to the region's service providers and the telecoms industry. Although our name has changed, our core values and our operating standards have not. We remain dedicated to delivering superior solutions and to supporting our regional customers with the best resources and expertise."
