CABSAT opens to high expectations

This year’s instalment of the Middle East’s largest electronic media and satellite communication industry expo (CABSAT 2007) was opened today in Dubai, drawing the largest number of exhibitors in the event’s history.

This year’s instalment of the Middle East’s largest electronic media and satellite communication industry expo (CABSAT 2007) was opened today in Dubai, drawing the largest number of exhibitors in the event’s history.

CABSAT 2007 will showcase the latest breakthrough technologies from regional and international suppliers in the fields of mobile television, internet protocol television (IPTV) and broadband via satellite, amongst other things.

Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, the UAE minister of governmental sector development, drew the curtain on CABSAT 2007, an event that has drawn over 500 exhibitors from over 50 countries, representing a 50% year-on-year increase from last year.

“We are seeing CABSAT becoming more professional in its approach to the wider satellite industry,” commented Soheil Mehrabanzad, assistant VP and managing director of CABSAT exhibitor Hughes Network Systems Middle East.

“The show was initially targeted at companies in the broadcasting side of satellite communications, but now we see it incorporating the telecoms side of things, which I believe is a positive development.”

Event organisers forecast that the number of visitors to CABSAT this year will easily exceed the 9, 000 industry professionals who attended last year’s event.
