Dubai Sports City contract MEP winners announced

Hyder Consulting Middle East and Eagle Electromechanical have won the contract to design, build and install a sewage treatment plant (STP) for Dubailand project Dubai Sports City.

Hyder Consulting Middle East and Eagle Electromechanical have won the contract to design, build and install a sewage treatment plant (STP) for Dubailand project Dubai Sports City.

A 25,000m3/day STP will be constructed under the US $16 million (AED60 million) contract, with Hyder Consulting the lead consultant on the project and Eagle Electromechanical acting as the main contractor.

The STP is being built with the latest membrane bio-reactor technology, which produces high quality effluent for a lesser footprint in comparison to other treatment processes. The plant is fully enclosed and incorporates odour control.

The plant will treat wastewater generated at the development and recycle the high quality effluent water for irrigation of the landscape across the entire development.

“Establishing the sewage treatment plant will help us to contribute to the City of Dubai environmentally, which has always been our goal from the onset,” stressed Dubai Sports City president Khalid Al Zarooni.
