Expansion plans announced for Sharjah

A US $1.09 billion (AED4 billion) expansion plan has been announced for the Sahara Centre in Sharjah.

A US $1.09 billion (AED4 billion) expansion plan has been announced for the Sahara Centre in Sharjah.

The plans will increase the size of the Emirate’s largest shopping mall by 60% to over 167,200m2.

The design includes the construction of seven new towers ranging in height from 27 to 33 floors, almost 46,500m2 of new office space and 27-floors of hotel suites.

This is expected to be the largest project carried out in Sharjah over the next five years and is intended to provide a major boost to the Emirate’s plans to increase tourism and attract further investment.

“This is a very significant investment and reflects our commitment to the UAE and Sharjah in particular,” commented Al Nahda Real Estate md Jean Pierre Nammour.

Other components of the Sahara City development include three further towers, the West Gate Twin Towers and the North Gate Tower, plus a $820,000 pedestrian link bridge.
