Networking companies have set a hectic pace this GITEX, as large numbers of specialists visit the show.

“We’ve definitely been impressed by the quality of the visitors coming to our stand, and it’s a great opportunity to promote our local offices,” says Mark Mullins, EMEA marketing manager for Fluke Networks. Fluke is showing off its advanced range of network analysis and diagnostic equipment.

One of Fluke’s close partners is Ortronics, a leading provider of network infrastructure solutions. This is the first GITEX for Ortronics on its own – previously it has exhibited with major distributor Online Distribution.

“GITEX is the best exhibition for us to project our local presence in the Middle East; we have representatives across the region, and we’re in the process of setting up in Saudi Arabia as well,” says Tomaso Charlemont, business development manager for the Middle East.

Secure Computing is another new entrant into the Middle East, having just hired a new regional team headed up by the indomitable Ray Kafity.

GITEX has seen the presence of its chief technology officer Dr Paul Q Judge, backing up the regional team with heavyweight technical insight. “GITEX is impressive, and I’m excited about the level of opportunity in this region,” says Judge.

Another high-profile visitor has been Martin Reichle, CEO of Reichle & De-Massari (R&M), supporting partners Verger et Delporte here at GITEX.

“The Middle East represents around 10% of our income, so it’s an incredibly important market for us,” says Reichle. “GITEX is a very cost-effective way for us to reach our key customers.”

Also here with a distributor is RSA Security, supporting Fusion Distribution. The EMC subsidiary is excited about the opportunities in the region.

“There’s definitely a major market for security vendors and consultants in the Middle East right now,” says Jan Lawford, area vice president at RSA.

F5 Networks is also gearing up for more business in the region, according to Nigel Ashworth, MEA technical director: “We’ve opened a DIC office and are expanding our presence in the region to support our customers.”
