InfraTech is keen to raise awareness of remote access technology at GITEX.
Most IT hardware, from servers to laptop computers, is vulnerable to extreme changes in environmental conditions such as temperature and air pressure. While this may not be a top priority for many companies, InfraTec, a German producer of hardware and software for the remote maintenance of workstations, servers and peripheral equipment is keen to raise awareness of such devices at GITEX.
“We develop units to control networks against the environment - humidity, temperature, and hazards such as fire,” Karlheinz Knapp, CEO of InfraTec said. “Our units can detect special events in the environment to save servers and components inside the cabinets,” Knapp said. InfraTec has a range of remote monitoring units which can control the effect of environmental fluctuations on hardware.
InfraTec develops and produces applications and components for switches, extenders, rack-monitoring systems, serial console servers and installation cabling. Knapp added that the company provides technology for companies including BMW and T-Mobile. “BMW controls the whole infrastructure of its production with our units,” Knapp said. “Our units are also used in airports - in Dusseldorf and Munich - to make sure the control tower is secure and works perfectly,” he added.
InfraTec also has a range of units that can control the current passing through servers, routers and switches. Knapp added that InfraTec’s new PM 4/8 IP socket strips enable the remote control of servers, network devices and related hardware. The power management socket strips are available in various designs and can be operated directly via the integrated Ethernet interface, enabling convenient administration via a web interface.
While the market for InfraTec's technology in the Middle East is quite new, the company has already sold kit to some big distributors in the region. InfraTec is also looking to set up a partnership with a local company. “We will set up a dealer network with our new partnership concept, together with a distributor. We're looking for distributors and dealers in the region,” Knapp said.
