HP targets new service sectors

HP’s technology solutions group (TSG) is outlining its ambitious Middle East expansion plans at this year’s GITEX. Jan Zadak, VP and managing director Central-Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa at TSG, is setting his sights on continued rapid growth in the region.

“I look after about 100 countries in total but the Middle East stands out and we have had incredible success here,” declares Zadak. “Looking ahead we plan to focus even more on taking HP’s consulting and integration expertise to market. We have invested heavily in serving the needs of the telecoms sector and we plan to do the same in terms of the oil and gas sector as well as the SAP services and integration space.”

With HP investing heavily in developing its software business through strategic purchases such as Mercury Interactive, Zadak believes that the time is right for the vendor giant to leverage its entire TSG portfolio and highlight the range of benefits on offer to enterprise customers.

“The next wave of development in the Middle East market will involve a greater focus on consulting and integration and also the further development of outsourcing. This is all about helping the customers to focus on their core business and develop skills and investments around this. They have the opportunity to turn IT into a non-core business and let someone else run it efficiently and effectively for them,” adds Zadak.

“We have invested a lot in building up our services capability in the Middle East,” he continues. “We bought the remaining stake of a joint venture that we had set up in Saudi Arabia and also pursued a joint venture policy in other countries to give us the headcount and the resources to ensure that customers received high quality service.”

The partners that HP’s TSG arm works with in the region continue to play a critical role according to Zadak. “We are focused on building specific competencies with highly specialised partners. HP plans to do even more to drive the development of the channel and ensure that these competencies and technologies are transferred to enterprise customers in the Middle East,” he concludes.
