Lenovo, the world’s 3rd largest PC vendor, is bringing together technology leaders from various industries around the region today for the first ever Middle East CIO Conference.

The event, which is based across the road from the GITEX halls at the Fairmont Dubai hotel, will be addressed by Bill Amelio, Lenovo’s CEO, as part of his very first visit to the region.

According to Lenovo, the conference will reveal what it claims is a new and unique approach to different vertical sectors on how to choose the technology best-suited to their business.

“Each industry sector has unique technology requirements that drive the business. These are defined by a number of factors including the nature of the business, the size of the organisation and applications in place,” says Milko van Dujil, the president of Lenovo EMEA.

Bill Amelio’s morning key-note speech will explain the beginnings of Lenovo, up to and including how the organisation is positioned at present. His talk will be followed by a look at the firm’s innovation legacy, its long-term partnerships and why service truly matters from the president of Lenovo EMEA, Milko van Dujil.

These presentations will be followed by break-out sessions relevant to key vertical industries such as finance, education, aviation, oil and gas, telecommunications and healthcare. Each session will look to tackle the trends within each industry and the impact these have on the work of CIOs.

Chief information officers from around the region are also being invited to discover how they can use the capabilities of the ThinkVantage technologies to add real value to their business.

“ThinkVantage Technologies help our customers become more competitive and on demand by delivering industry-leading capabilities that improve productivity and reduce cost,” Milko adds. “These tools help make ThinkPad/ThinkCentre personal computers less dependent on IT staff or user intervention for basic tasks like deployment, backup, security and more - freeing both users and IT staff to focus on business success.”
