Sony has expanded its Bravia LCD TV range in the Middle East with the release of five high definition (HD)-ready models, designed to capitalise on the anticipated launch of HD television services in the region.

Sony Gulf FZE managing director Masaru Tamagawa explained that Sony had made “considerable investments in production facilities to meet consumer demand” for HD products.

The new BRAVIA X-Series LCD TVs feature full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, which is more than four times that of conventional flat panel SVGA screens.

Available in 50-, 60-, and 70-inch sizes, the LCD TVs feature Sony’s unique SXRD technology, which the company claims “reproduces film-like image quality”.

The TVs also feature Sony’s live colour creation and Bravia Engine digital imaging processing technology, which it claims enhances image contrast and picture quality.

“I am confident that our Bravia LCD TV range will continue to shape the future of the LCD market in the Middle East,” said Tamagawa.

“We currently lead the regional LCD TV market and we are keen to consolidate this position in the marketplace.”
