Sage adds spice to Saudi

Business software giant Sage has announced the opening of an office in Riyadh to further its presence in the Middle East. The vendor believes the move will allow it to work more closely with the channel and bolster sales of its ERP and CRM applications into medium and large businesses throughout Saudi Arabia.

Business software giant Sage has announced the opening of an office in Riyadh to further its presence in the Middle East. The vendor believes the move will allow it to work more closely with the channel and bolster sales of its ERP and CRM applications into medium and large businesses throughout Saudi Arabia.

Marc Van der Ven, managing director at Sage Software Middle East, said: “We have been running our regional business out of head office in Dubai, but business growth creates the demand for physical presence and greater commitment. Sage has invested in setting up a local Saudi operation to be closer to our business partners and provide them with marketing and technical support and training to assist customers.”

The UK-based vendor claims the Saudi market is full of opportunities as organisations work towards achieving greater control of their budgets, streamlined business processes and improved tracking of their marketing spend. It has also invested in creating an ‘arabised’ verion of its flagship human resources software, which supports the Hijri calendar and local government regulations.

“The Saudi business environment is becoming increasingly competitive and moving fast towards WTO compliance,” added Van der Ven. This means that organisations will need to build greater efficiency into their business operations, and need to have reliable systems inplace to ensure immediate data availability and also data integrity. There is a good level of awareness in the Kingdom today of these requirements, and businesses are
realising the need to invest in their infrastructure, whether it’s to manage accounts, their people or their sales and marketing processes.”

Sage Software has five million customers worldwide, with 1,500 customers and 45 partners in the Middle East. In addition to Dubai and Saudi, it also has an office Bahrain. The company also serves the wider region through a network of partners in countries such as Egypt, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and Lebanon.
