US Robotics appoints Dalrymple as new CEO

Internet access and networking solutions vendor US Robotics has named technology industry veteran Steven D. Dalrymple as its new CEO. Dalrymple replaces Joseph Hartnett, who engineered the sale of US Robotics to Platinum Equity in August 2005.

“Joe Hartnett played a pivotal role in positioning US Robotics for the future,” said Paul Bridwell, senior VP at Platinum Equity. “We are confident there will be a smooth transition as he passes the reins to Steve Dalrymple.”

Dalrymple has strong experience of leading companies in rapidly changing markets. He most recently served as CEO of another Platinum Equity company, Vanguard Managed Solutions, which is the largest independent managed services provider in the US and a leading source of enterprise networking equipment. After his switch to the CEO role at US Robotics Dalrymple will remain a member of Vanguard’s Board of Directors.

“Steve brings a strong background in enterprise networking to US Robotics,” Bridwell said. “At Vanguard he led a business transformation that re-established the company in the managed services space, while sustaining both customer retention and financial performance.”

“We expect him to be similarly effective at US Robotics, guiding the company through a rapidly changing marketplace and building a successful, long-term future for the company,” he concluded.
