Excitement mounts ahead of inaugural GulfComms

The Middle East’s largest international telecommunications exhibition is poised to make a massive impact come November 18th.

The Middle East’s largest international telecommunications exhibition is poised to make a massive impact come November 18th.

With strong backing from a number of influential players in the telecoms arena, including the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), Etisalat, du and Nokia, the inaugural GulfComms promises to be a must-attend event for everyone associated with the fast-growing Middle East telecoms sector during this year’s Gitex period.

“The Middle East’s telecommunications sector has perhaps the most potential for growth of any market in the world, so there has been strong demand for an industry event which can provide a professional platform for business development for international companies within the Middle East,” says Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, DWTC. “GulfComms will bring many of the world’s dominant telecoms companies together in Dubai for a milestone event, supported by DWTC’s robust experience in organising world class events like Gitex.”

The event will reinforce the message of ‘digital convergence’ and feature dedicated areas for specific technology areas including mobile and fixed networks, infrastructure solutions and 3G as well as voice over IP offerings. GulfComms has already attracted significant interest from a number of major players in the telecoms field.

UAE operators Etisalat and du are gearing up for a major presence at GulfComms. Essa Al Haddad, chief marketing officer at Etisalat, says: “Etisalat is aggressively expanding investments and operations within the Middle East and Africa and GulfComms is seen as a key event for us. The exhibition is a great opportunity for us to meet up with key decision makers from across the region and beyond, to share common ideas with them and be able to better understand future challenges, trends and customer-centric services that can add value to the telecom experience.”

Over at du, the UAE’s second telecoms operator, CEO Osman Sultan, says: “The telecom sector in the region is burgeoning and needs an appropriate forum for the industry to showcase itself. This is in line with du’s commitment to making the customer experience a better one, by allowing them greater accessibility to the latest developments in the field locally and globally.”

“GulfComms presents TRA with a targeted platform to network with other operators and regulators from around the region, as well as the opportunity to touch base with some of the leading major suppliers from around the world. As the guardian of the UAE telecom sector, we see this event to be a positive stimulant for this core sector of the economy,” comments H.E. Mohamed Al-Ghanim, TRA director general.

DWTC has lined up more than 400 companies to participate in GulfComms, ensuring that the inaugural event will be a success.
