The crème de la crème of the UAE’s power retailer sector will be out in force at this year’s Gitex Shopper & Consumer Electronics Expo 2006 tempting the 120,000-plus visitors forecast to attend with a selection of special promotions and bundle offers.

Power retailers including CompuMe, Grand Stores, Jacky’s, Jumbo Electronics, Plug-Ins and Sharaf DG will battle it out to grab a share of the consumer wallet as visitors look for the latest IT kit.

“Gitex Shopper and Consumer Electronics Expo has been a real success, and it has become the leading retail technology show in the Middle East. We had over 118,000 visitors last year and we expect to have more this year,” says Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, DWTC. “Serious buyers from all over the region visit this event,” he adds.

Major hardware vendors are already sitting down with retail distributors such as Cosmos and Oasis to discuss the offers and promotions that will hopefully win them significant market share at Gitex Shopper.

However, Gitex Shopper is about much more than simply hardware. The very latest software programmes will also be available for purchase at the event. Fast-growing India-based business applications vendor Tally will once again put in an appearance at Shopper this year targeting customers looking for a business solution that represents real value for money.

Special events taking place during Gitex Shopper 2006 include the Windows Gaming Show organised by ITP’s Windows Middle East magazine. HP, gold sponsor of Gitex Shopper, will run intelligent home presentations and Mercedes-Benz will host a special ‘energy’ stand.

Gitex Shopper sales are expected to surpass last year’s grand total of US$19m. With a massive surge in visitors expected, shuttle buses will be laid on to and from the venue to ease possible congestion in and around the Airport Expo venue.
