Over 120,000 bargain hunters expected at Gitex Shopper 2006
Over 120,000 consumer electronics and technology lovers are expected at the 16th GITEX Shopper & Consumer Electronics Expo 2006 this November, according to organisers Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC)
The undisputed leader in technology-retailing in the Middle East, this year’s event will offer what the Trade Centre’s team claims will be the most exciting range of products yet, including everything from laptops and PCs to mobile phones, cameras, game, consumer electronics and office automation solutions.
GITEX Shopper represents the consumer arm of the 26th edition of GITEX 2006 and is scheduled to be held from 18-24 November at Dubai’s Airport Expo Dubai, in a huge shopping area totalling 22,000 sq meters. The exhibition will host approximately 150 vendors, distributors and resellers, who are expected to offer the usual array of great price promotions, deals and hot product demonstrations.
“Digital mobility has taken the world by storm and in the Middle East, GITEX Shopper has become the most eagerly-awaited event for business and home users who are keen to avail of the latest launches and fantastic offers made by the retailing giants in the region,” said DWTC director general, Helal Saeed Al Marri. “This year too there will be an array of prizes, raffles, easy payment facilities, credit card promotions and instant cash prizes,” he added.
GITEX Shopper 2005 raked in sales in excess of AED72 million (US $19.61 million); a 30% increase in transactions over the 2004 event. The show attracts buyers from all the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries as well as Iran, India, Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt and the CIS.
