ETA Star lines up to invite bids for Summit tower job

Tenders for enabling package expected in August with the main construction contract in September

UAE-based property developer, ETA Star is expected to invite bids for the enabling package on its US $191 million (AED700 million) commercial tower, The Summit, in August, followed by bids for the main construction package in September.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in November this year with an estimated completion date of June 2009.
The Summit is a 38-storey commercial tower located between Dubai Media City and Dubai Marina. Colliers International has been appointed as the consultant, while Singapore-based Architect 61 is the architect.

Abid A Junaid, executive director, ETA Star, said: “The main construction package will most likely be awarded in November this year with tenders going out by September.”

The Summit takes its name from the tower’s imposing design and offers a total built-up area of approximately 90,000m2. Comprising four basement floors, a ground floor for commercial space, six parking podiums and 31 floors of office space, the tower will offer a total of 420 small office units ranging from 102m2 to 112m2.

ETA Star’s portfolio includes projects such as 23 Marina,
Al Manara, Liberty House, Gold Crest Executive, The Belvedere and Gold Crest Views-Two, and the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa and The Grandeur Residences on the Palm Jumeirah crescent.

The company has also recently ventured into the Indian and Sri Lankan property markets with the launch of The Gardens, an environment-certified residential complex in Bangalore, and the Golden Enclave Residences in Colombo.

Colliers International has 241 offices globally, including a Middle Eastern presence in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Riyadh and Jeddah. The company is currently undertaking assignments in Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, Egypt, and Oman.
