Koreans take Dubai Lagoon

A Korean-based engineering consortium has been awarded the contract to build the entire US $817 million (AED3 billion) Dubai Lagoon project.

A Korean-based engineering consortium has been awarded the contract to build the entire US $817 million (AED3 billion) Dubai Lagoon project.

Daewoo DSME Construction and Sunjin Civil and Architecture (C&A) of South Korea will build housing units, internal roads, lagoon formations, and will also have responsibility for all MEP work. The value of the contract has not been revealed.

Phase one will be completed by December 2007 and phase two by mid-2008.

Daewoo DSME and Sunjin C&A has built a gamut of projects around the world, including subways, harbours, ports, multiple building projects and the laying of railroad lines.

Dubai Lagoon, located at Dubai Investments Park, is spread over 530,300m² with 53 buildings consisting of studios, one, two, and three-bedroom and penthouse apartments. Three quarters of the land is dedicated to landscaping, waterfalls and fountains.
