Token gesture gives Saudi surfers World Cup content

Saudi Arabia’s leading internet service provider, AwalNet, is offering subscribers ‘near’-live FIFA World Cup content through its token deal with universalsport.com.

Saudi Arabia’s leading internet service provider, AwalNet, is offering subscribers ‘near’-live FIFA World Cup content through its token deal with universalsport.com.

The World Cup content on offer at universalsport.com includes near-live pictures from each and every match, video footage of the best in-match scenes, a daily video summary of the action and a comprehensive video summary of the tournament upon its completion.

AwalNet subscribers are being supplied with tokens that can be redeemed at the Universal Sport portal. For instance, one token can provide access to the single best shot of a match, or a one-minute summary 5-8 minutes after a match's end.

The offer applies to AwalNet DSL subscribers who currently have a one-year subscription, subscribers who are interested in renewing their subscription for at least three months, and those transferring their ISP subscriptions over to AwalNet from other providers.

“This campaign launch highlights the commitment of the company to offering the best services and real added values to its customers,” said Abdul Aziz Al Qatie, acting general manager of AwalNet.

Arabian Internet Services Company, a.k.a ‘AwalNet’ is the leading ISP in Saudi Arabia and offers connectivity, internet services and IT solutions to businesses and households.

Whilst AwalNet is going World Cup crazy in Saudi Arabia, over in Jordan Batelco is also getting into the game.

The operator has added a range of new features to coincide with the World Cup in Germany, according to a recent report by TradeArabia.

Subscribers can, for instance, utilise an interactive SMS and MMS service, which will enable them to get the latest results and news about players via picture and text messages. Subscribers can also personalise their mobiles with downloadable wallpapers and ringtones. The new service is available via Batelco's 'aywah' web portal.
