Etisalat will tomorrow launch a new online payment service named BizDirect. This online Direct Debit solution is being touted by the organisation as an “important evolution” in the country’s online payment market.

In its pre-launch press material, Etisalat predicts that the roll-out of BizDirect will lead to what it terms a “quantum jump” in online payment transactions for government institutions and large corporates.

Tomorrow will see BizDirect launched in Dubai, with Etisalat, Dubai eGovernment, Dubai Municipality and Commercial Bank of Dubai representatives due to outline the solution’s features and benefits, as well as discussing the wider state of the country’s online payment landscape.

BizDirect, based as it is on the Direct Debit form of bill payment, should allow customers to pay a varying billed amount regularly (and automatically) over the web.

At present, standing orders are the preferred banking method of paying regular same-cost bills. Over-the-phone credit card payment meanwhile is not currently available in the Emirates.
