Components distribution powerhouse eSys has expanded its global presence, opening a new office in South Africa, which will also cover neighbouring countries and resellers in English-speaking West Africa.

Components distribution powerhouse eSys has expanded its global presence, opening a new office in South Africa, which will also cover neighbouring countries and resellers in English-speaking West Africa.

Pavan Gupta, director Europe, Middle East and Africa at eSys, said: “South Africa is emerging as the continent’s IT hub and offers a dynamic market for IT services and products. It also serves as a link with neighbouring countries in the region.”

“Through our new representative office, eSys Technologies will position the products it manufactures and distributes, among home-users, students, small and medium business enterprises and the health and government sectors in the South African region,” he added.

The new office will also be used as base to further develop the distribution of eSys; low-cost multimedia PCs, which are assembled at Jebel Ali in the UAE. The South African facility will also oversee the distribution of products such as CPUs, hard drives, memory, printers, optical drives, TFT monitors, network storage and surveillance solutions, security appliances and handheld enterprise devices from a wide range of vendors including Seagate, Western Digital, Samsung, Hynix, Xerox, BenQ, Alps and Xserve.

eSys also now boasts its own portfolio of IT accessories under the eCube brand. The eCube product range includes USB flash drives, data link cables, external hard drive enclosures as well as multimedia and flash cards.

eSys has set its sight on Middle East and Africa sales of US$180m in full year 2006. The distributor achieved boosted its regional sales 46% year-on-year in 2005 to hit US$143m. eSys already has a representative office in Morocco that serves the neighbouring countries of Tunisia, Libya, Algeria and French-speaking West Africa. The company has also established a reseller network within Iraq.
