From Lahore to Lords

APC has played a straight bat with the unfortunate UAE-based Indian resellers deported from Pakistan during a cricket-based channel reward trip that went horribly wrong earlier this year.

Three months later, the APC team is no longer on a sticky wicket after bowling over its top Dubai-based resellers with a replacement trip to the UK to make up for the original aborted reward.

The disastrous reseller reward trip in February had been to Lahore to watch a one-day cricket international between Pakistan and India.

Philip Hughes, general manager Middle East at APC, explained what went wrong: “Despite all the different protestations and blame throwing from the authorities at the time, the simple issue was that APC travelled with their prize winning resellers and watched in horror as the authorities deported their Indian clients — despite all having the necessary paperwork and despite the intervention of the senior government officials in Pakistan.”

“The nightmare got worse when Dubai immigration refused to allow the resellers to re-enter the UAE leaving the guys incarcerated in Dubai International Airport for nine hours,” he added. “Now, three months later the follow-up story can be told. Despite being at the centre of a minor international diplomatic incident, APC kept their word and undaunted, the APC channel team members travelled this week to London and Reading in the UK with the Dubai-based resellers.”

The UK event included a visit to the London Eye and Big Ben but the undisputed highlight of the trip for the cricket crazy resellers from Dubai was a visit to Lords Cricket Ground and the MCC Museum where they saw a treasure trove of memorabilia including the Ashes and Don Bradman’s bat.

“The dream tour was rounded off with a visit to the world’s most watched musical Mama Mia in London’s theatre land, turning the diehard Bollywood fans into instant Abba groupies,” added Hughes. The resellers that participated in the trip to London have already expressed their gratitude to APC.

“The tour to Pakistan took nine months in planning, visits and communications, contradictory information, negotiations and process changes,” continued Hughes. “At the end of that period the result was a failure. The tour to the UK took a month of planning and thanks to the response, attitude and support from the British Embassy was a massive success.”

During the UK trip, the Dubai-based resellers also enjoyed a visit to the Microsoft Technology Centre in Reading to tour a proof-of-concept centre featuring APC’s revolutionary InfraStruXure racks and precision cooling and power systems.
