Kuwait’s hotel industry continues to prosper as more hotels open up in the state to take advantage of the recent business boom being brought about by the reconstruction of Iraq. The InterContinental Hotels Group opened its latest addition, Holiday Inn Downtown, last month, adding 169 rooms to the cities inventory.

Strategically located close to Kuwait’s financial and business district, Holiday Inn Downtown offers a variety of conference facilities that accommodate up to 400 persons. It also provides eight private offices with sea and city views, secretarial offices and guest work stations.

“Our main markets will be local corporate, long staying guests, and corporate meetings as well as frequent individual business travellers,” said Laurent Rigaud, general manager, Holiday Inn Downtown.

“Firstly, we will promote the hotel through our sales team within Kuwait. Furthermore, we shall participate in various exhibitions as well as targeted sales trips overseas.”
The four-star 24-storey hotel features 169 rooms, including 27 executive rooms and 20 suites. On the top floor, the hotel provides a gym and an indoor swimming pool. However, Rigaud is confident that the new hotel will find its place in the Kuwait market, and that business will remain constant.

“The coming years are going to be challenging and exciting at the same time, as we see a trend in developing new hotel projects in Kuwait City.” commented Rigaud.
