Microsoft Gulf plans to ramp up the level of support and services for its partners on the ground in Oman with the appointment of Hesham El-Shamy as partner account manager for the Sultanate.

El-Shamy will take on the responsibility for helping partners in Oman build up their business, increase profitability levels and improve the overall levels of service delivered to Microsoft customers.

“Partners play a vital role in delivering solutions based on Microsoft technologies to our customers, and in ensuring the ongoing satisfaction of our customers,” said Sami Al Lawati, country manager at Microsoft Oman.

“This makes our relationship with our partners one of the most key roles in Microsoft, and we are very pleased that Hesham has joined Microsoft Oman to build on our partner base in the Sultanate,” he added.

According to Microsoft, almost all of its business in the Gulf region is fulfilled through partners, meaning that channel support is vital to ensure continued growth. As partner account manager, El-Shamy will work with partners to identify growth areas in the market and develop business plans and strategies.

El-Shamy will also play a key role lining up partners with appropriate business opportunities while simultaneously providing sales support for customer engagements. Microsoft’s partner organisation also plays a key role in lead generation and channel expansion activities.

The Microsoft Gulf subsidiary was created in August 2005 when the previously separate North and South Gulf operations were fused together. A major reason behind the decision to merge the two units was a desire to increase the levels of expertise and resources available in each country.
