Jamal Al-Jassim Electronics, the exclusive distributor for LG IT products in Saudi Arabia, is present at Saudi Gitex 2006 with a range of new LG kit. The Korean vendor has publicly stated it plans to grow sales in the region by 20% in 2006, and a strong presence at this week’s show is expected to raise its profile even further.
It was back in June 2004 when LG announced it was expanding into Saudi Arabia’s booming notebook market with the launch of its Centrino-equipped LM and LS series. LG believed the LM50 and LS50 notebooks would strike a chord with increasingly internet savvy Saudi customers.
“LG is already number one in Saudi Arabia for computer monitor sales, and the latest product launch reinforces LG’s position in the important IT sector in the kingdom. The LM notebook is a highly competitive package, with the latest features, clever design and it is attractively priced,” says C.K Cho, general manager of LG Electronics Saudi Arabia. LG recorded sales of US$2.27 billion in the Middle East and Africa in 2005, an 8% increase compared to 2004. “2005 was a challenging year for LG Electronics,” says K. W Kim, president of LG Electronics, Middle East and Africa Operations. “But the brand continued its impressive growth trend and maintained its leadership position for consumer electronics. Continued product innovation aimed at the unique customer needs of local markets will drive sales growth.”
