R&M poised to launch Patch Guard at Gitex Saudi Arabia

Swiss structured cabling specialist Reichle & De-Massari (R&M) plans to launch its new product Patch Guard in the Middle East and Africa region at this year’s Gitex Saudi Arabia. The new product expands R&M's security system for data networks with a lock for RJ45 patch cords.

“Gitex KSA represents an important platform for us to talk to a wide range of businesses across industries including governments, telcos, banking, hotels and other enterprise businesses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the rest of the region, about their diverse security requirements for their data networks and how we can meet those needs,” explained Laurent Amestoy, regional general manager at R&M Middle East and Africa.

R&M claims that its structured cabling solutions cater to the growing demands from large enterprises for secure, uninterrupted access to information across their networks. R&M’s regional client list includes Emirates Bank, Arab Bank, American University of Dubai, UAE University and Telecom Egypt.

The Patch Guard plug-out protection consists of a plastic clamp with a locking mechanism that can be mounted without tools. The clamp blocks the unlatching lever of the RJ45 connector. As a result, only authorised users who have the compatible key can open the plug-out protection. R&M claims that this solution closes the last security gap in passive cabling.

The latest product from R&M expands the third step of its modular security system, which features an intelligent plug-out protection, locking mechanism and authorisation solution. Additional levels of the R&M security solution allow colour and mechanical coding of the network connections and help to avoid erroneous patching.
