Etisalat appoints new CEO
Following a restructuring plan, Etisalat has appointed a new CEO and created new positions as it enters a new era of liberalised telecommunications in the UAE.
UAE national operator Etisalat has changed its top management and created new posts as it enters a new era of liberalised telecommunications. A board meeting has ratified the restructuring plan that was put forward by Etisalat’s consultants.
At the top, Mohammad Khalfan Al Qamzi has been appointed as CEO. Al Qamzi was previously general manager, Etisalat Abu Dhabi region.
Mohammad Hassan Omran, former CEO and chairman, moves to the position of chairman. Omran has been at Etisalat since 1977 when he joined the operator’s engineering department. He was promoted to area manager in Ras Al Khaima in 1982, and then appointed as deputy general manager of Etisalat in 1984. In 1999, following a corporate restructuring, his post was changed to senior executive vice president.
Ahmad Abdul Karim Julfar, general manager of Etisalat Dubai and eCompany, has been handed the newly created post of chief operations officer.
