Arab Business Machine (ABM) has unveiled Apple’s new Intel-based Mac computer mini across the region one month after its US launch.

“This new slimmed-down version of our desktop is just another illustration of Apple’s continued and dramatic transformation for the new millennium,” stated Elias Abou Rustom, general manager, ABM. “We are pleased that this example of cutting edge technology is now available to the Middle Eastern market as it shows Apple’s commitment and consistency in servicing its customers needs, for any part of the world.”

The Mac mini is available in two configurations at present: one featuring a 1.5GHz Intel single core processor and the other featuring a 1.67GHz Core Duo (dual-core) processor. The single core model features a 60Gbyte hard drive and DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive, whereas the high-end model boasts a 80Gbyte hard drive and a 8x SuperDrive, which can write to DVD media. A modem is not included in either model.

The duo also features Apple’s built-in AirPort Extreme wireless connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, one FireWire 400 port and four USB ports. Meanwhile, audio and video connections consist of an optical output port, DVI and D-sub-out interface.

The Mac also boasts 512Mbytes of RAM along with a new infrared port designed to work with the Apple Remote. It also supports an updated version of Front Row – Apple’s own multimedia management application. This latest version of Front Row allows users to access shared iTunes, iPhoto libraries and video via the firm’s Bonjour instant networking software, which automatically connects PCs and smart devices without requiring any configuration.

Both models are currently available across the region. The single core model is priced at US $708, whereas the dual core offering is tagged at $953.
