DWC offers Apple courses in the UAE

Dubai Women’s College (DWC) has now become the first Apple authorised training centre for Final Cut Pro (FCP) in the Middle East.

Dubai Women’s College (DWC) has now become the first Apple authorised training centre for Final Cut Pro (FCP) in the Middle East. The college will offer three courses — Final Cut Pro 100, a one-day overview course, Final Cut Pro 101, a three-day course and Final Cut Pro 200, a five-day comprehensive course. Participants in the FCP 101 and 200 courses will be eligible to sit for the Apple Pro Certification Level One exam.

“Final Cut Pro has rapidly become the editing software of choice internationally for independent production companies, studios and television stations,” says Bernard Purcell, academic supervisor of the Communication Technology programme. “Given that the local television industry is shifting to Final Cut Pro and the emerging film industry is also opting for this software, it made sense for DWC to set up this training centre. This is vital for us to not only ensure that our graduates are abreast with the latest editing technology but that local industry practitioners have a centre where they can update their skills,” he adds.

All of the courses, offered through (CERT) are being facilitated by Apple Certified Final Cut Pro end users and trainers with a minimum of five-years of editing experience. The courses will be taught in English. The next courses are slated for March and April.
