Canadian-based Matrox is giving regional gamers, media buffs and graphics designers the chance to triple their viewing experience with the launch of its TripleHead2Go.

This external device - essentially a graphics splitter - allows users to combine three monitors for a maximum resolution of 3840 x 1024 pixels.

“Running 3D and animation applications fully accelerated across three screens provides a tremendous productivity benefit for many workstation users“, stated Dan Wood, vice president of technical marketing.

The new device uses what Matrox describes as a Graphics eXpansion Module, which allows users to still use their existing graphics card with the added functionality of multi-monitor support. The product is already certified to work with games such as Quake 4, Age of Empires III and GTR Racing claims Matrox.

“For gamers, three screens enables an immersive experience by engaging a players peripheral vision and allowing them to see the gaming environment as if they were looking through an extra wide-angle camera lens; it just makes games more fun.” added Wood.

The firm’s TripleHead2Go device will be available next month from UAE-based Xperts Computers and Mediasys for approximately US $299.
