Etisalat rolls out e-mail to SMS

Etisalat’s internet arm, eCompany, has launched a new service - Email2SMS - which allows users to send text messages direct from their PCs.

Etisalat’s internet arm, eCompany, has launched a new service - Email2SMS - which allows users to send text messages direct from their PCs.

eCompany e-mail subscribers can send SMS messages to local and international mobile telephone numbers using either their standard account and an e-mail client (such as MS Outlook or Netscape Messenger) or eCompany’s webmail client at www.eimmail.ae.

To send an SMS, subscribers must enter the recipient’s mobile number @ the domain name of the Email2SMS service, using the full mobile number format. For instance, to send a local UAE SMS, this would be, say, 0501112222@email2sms.ae.

The service supports English and Arabic SMS messages up to 560 and 280 characters in length respectively. The Email2SMS service has no subscription or monthly recurring charges and is available to all eCompany mail subscribers. Instead SMS charges are as per Etisalat’s present applicable rates and are billed to the eCompany internet subscriber.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer the convenience and ease of use of the email2SMS service for our valued EIM Mail subscribers. This will give them a simple option to send SMS messages even when they do not have a mobile phone, or run out of their mobile prepaid credit or are traveling outside the UAE without a roaming facility enabled on their phone,” explained Abdulla Hashim, the assistant general manager of eCompany.

Subscribers can visit eCompany’s website at www.ecompany.ae/email2sms or call 800-6-100 for further information on the service.
