Hyatt Regency Dubai prepares for indoor olympics

Dubai’s Hyatt Regency will hold its second annual indoor triathlon competition on March 24. The daylong charity event will be held at the hotel’s newly refurbished Club Olympus gym.

“Last year, the event proved to be a fun day for all. While the kids were enjoying the pool and the sun, parents were pushing their limits all in the name of charity and fitness,” said Zoë Muir, club manager for the Club Olympus.
“We were able to raise around AED 3000 (US $817) for victims of the Tsunami,” she added.

Competitors in the triathalon will race one another on the club’s gym equipment. The circuit includes 1.5km on the rowing machines, 6km on exercise bikes and 2km on the treadmills.

Winners will be announced the same evening at a cocktail reception held around Club Olympus’ swimming pool. Prizes include complimentary stays at Hyatt hotels and vouchers for complimentary meals at Hyatt Regency’s Al Dawar, Foccacia and The Kitchen restaurants.

Participants can register at Club Olympus for a fee of AED 50 (US $14). All proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for underprivileged children.

“This year we have raised our target. We hope to be able to donate AED 6000 (US $1634),” said Muir. “We hope even more people will want to participate and help us try to make a difference.”
