Foxconn offers users full control

With the launch of its new 975X7AA-8EKRS2 motherboard, Foxconn claims it is the first motherboard manufacturer in the world to make use of Intel’s 975X core logic chipset.

Unlike Intel’s older 955X chipset, the 975X offers support for dual graphics cards and Intel’s 65nm dual-core Pentium 4 Extreme Edition chips. At present, ATi’s CrossFire technology is also supported, though nVidia SLI support is thus far missing from the 975X chipset.

Besides the new chipset, Foxconn claims its motherboard offers users more control than ever before. This is thanks to the company’s proprietary ‘Fox One’ control system.

Fox One is designed specifically for Intel chipset based motherboards and lets users automatically monitor information such as bus frequencies, voltages and temperatures.

Additionally, the technology makes sure that major system components are automatically and intelligently adjusted to improve system performance and power efficiency. Extensive manual settings (so-called ‘tuner settings’) are also provided.

The board also sports SATA II, Intel High Definition audio and DDR2 memory support and is expected to hit stores during December. Pricing has yet to be announced.

Vendors such as Gigabyte and MSI are also at present working on motherboards that incorporate Intel’s latest 975X chipset. These are also expected to hit stores by December.
