Alchemix launches in Lebanon

Alchemix Production Studios, launched in Lebanon recently, not only boasts the latest equipment but also promises to enable its artists to think more creatively by providing them with recreational facilities.

Alchemix Production Studios, a new state-of-the-art audio production studio, was launched in Lebanon recently. The studio not only boasts the latest equipment but also promises to enable its artists to think more creatively by providing them with recreational facilities.

“On the one hand, I’ve integrated analogue systems, such as tube mics, tube preamps and live instruments, with digital equipment, such as RME soundcard, hardware controllers, the Mac computer, Logic Pro 7, Reason 3.0 and Final Cut Pro 4.5,” says Karim Gabriel Choueiri, producer and creative head of Alchemix.

“In doing this, I have the flexibility to create virtually any kind of music with as many virtual tracks as anyone could need. On the other hand, I’ve included a lounge area with a bar, billiards, gym and sauna to enable my clients and artists to relax.”

Situated in a luxury residential area near Beirut, the studio is said to be ready to record at the touch of a button. “This studio can be operated 24/7. We also work on a large two-metre squared cinema screen. There are two LCD displays in one of the acoustically-treated vocal booths. I’ve added a second workstation for the creation of projects with smaller budgets,” says Choueiri, who returned to Lebanon to launch Alchemix after completing his studies in music and audio technology, as well as filmmaking in the USA. “I freelanced in America for awhile and then decided to start a studio in my own country,” he explains.

Although only recently launched, Alchemix is already working on several projects. “We are in the market to develop multimedia campaigns to produce and post-produce commercials, documentaries, music-videos and jingles. This is our target, but we will get involved in other innovative audio/video projects,” says Choueiri.

The company is currently dubbing 13 episodes of a Tunisian cartoon from French to Arabic. “I also have several Arabic and hip-hop artistes working on their projects in the studio, and am in the process of helping to finance a Lebanese feature film,” he adds.
