Aptec old boys Sumit Kumar and Navin Tikoo have made sure that they will continue to work together in the IT channel. US Robotics, where Kumar is now regional manager for the Middle East and North Africa, has signed a distribution deal with Derinton — Tikoo’s new employer — to push the vendor’s complete range of products into the regional retail channel.

The agreement paves the way for US Robotics to further develop its retail exposure in the region. For Derinton, which was set up in 2005, US Robotics marks the latest addition to its growing vendor portfolio, which already includes both Acer and Nokia.

Derinton claims that its market knowledge, access and proficiency give it the ability to converge the requirements of vendors and channels, allowing it to generate a profitable alliance between suppliers, channels and the company.

“We are proud to partner with US Robotics, a market leader in networking access products,” said Tikoo, IT distribution head at Derinton. “This expansion of our authorised product portfolio synchronises well with our company’s aim of being able to cater to the growing wireless and broadband needs of the consumers and small office home office segments in our market. We are looking at a ‘win-win’ situation here as all parties involved will benefit from the agreement.”

“US Robotics has already gained a favourable position in the retail markets of the Middle East, and this latest agreement with Derinton International will guarantee the expansion of our market share in the region,” said Kumar. “In the Middle East, our wireless portfolio has achieved overwhelming success.”

“US Robotics products are know for their high performance, value for money and the excellent return on investment it offers, and we look forward to maximising our benefits to customers in the region with this partnership with Derinton International,” Kumar added.
