Listings mag aims to be hot property

A new real estate listings magazine due to launch on Wednesday, has already applied to be audited by the BPA Worldwide.

A new real estate listings magazine due to launch on Wednesday, has already applied to be audited by the BPA Worldwide.

AlBabWorld.com plans to distribute 50,000 free copies to 400 locations across the emirate every fortnight, and hopes to attract “unhappy” property developers and real estate agencies away from the Gulf News’ property listing supplements.

The Swiss Media Group, which has launched similar magazines across Europe, is behind the 16-page title, and will produce editions in both Arabic and English. The listings will also be available on its website AlBabWorld.com, which will be advertised in Europe and Russia.

“There is real need for a professional real estate publication that is 100% dedicated to real estate listings,” said Michael Lahyani, managing director of AlBabWorld.com. “Many advertisers are unhappy with the current offerings and we are providing an alternative for them to use.”

AlBabWorld.com will carry no editorial and promises to have clearly defined classified sections. Every advertiser will be offered a certain amount of classified ads, depending on their display ad.

Lahyani said that it had decided to apply for an audit before it had even launched the magazine to demonstrate to the market its credibility.

“One of the groups policies is to be transparent with advertisers, which is why we are auditing,” he said. “I have seen so many magazines that have claimed a circulation which they quite clearly do not have.

“We want to show advertisers that we are serious about what we are doing and demonstrate our distribution and circulation.”

The company intends to produce 35,000 copies in English and 15,000 in Arabic every two weeks, and will display both side by said in specially design display racks.
It will also eventually start distributing in Abu Dhabi.
