Etisalat Academy is preparing to welcome industry leaders and telecom operators such as sponsor Alcatel, Motorola, Lucent Technology, Huawei and Ericsson to Dubai next week, as it kicks off the region's first broadband conference.

The regional event, entitled ‘Broadband & Beyond’, will be the first of its kind in the Middle East and will take place between November 14th and 15th under the patronage of Mr. Mohammad Hassan Omran, the chairman and CEO of Etisalat.

“The Academy’s initiative to organise this conference is part of its strategy to draw attention to the latest developments in the field of telecommunication in the world,” explained Dr. Doaa Fares, Etisalat Academy’s general manager.

According to Dr. Fares, the liberalisation of the telecommunication market has and will provide unlimited opportunities for both incumbent and new operators worldwide. As such, he expects focus to shift to increase revenues while at the same time reducing expenses, and broadband technologies are one of the major initiatives that can help, as these can provide all present and future services over a single platform.

Various topics will be addressed during the two-day conference, including the current status of broadband, relevant technologies and services, emerging technologies, marketing strategies and future visions of what lies beyond broadband.
