Jumeirah Rd contract out

Phase two of Jumeirah Road 'beautification' is awarded to UAE contractor

Emirates Road Contracting has taken the second phase of a contract to pave the footpaths on Jumeirah Road, after just two firms submitted bids. The contractor won the job with a bid for US $20.4 million (AED75 million).

Dubai Municipality awarded the job to the firm after receiving another bid from the Saif Bin Darwish Group for $21.5 million.
Last week CW revealed how the Municipality is now considering bundling small road work packages together because many contractors are too busy to respond to tender calls.

“We are expecting to get all the paper work back from them within 45 days,” said a source at Emirates Road Contracting.
“We had already won phase one of the project, now this is the second phase which we have picked up.”

Works on Jumeirah Road are part of a ‘beautification’ scheme, which involves the widening of Jumeirah One to Three roads from two to three lanes.
