i-mate to unveil new products and promote 1-View software

Windows Mobile device specialist i-mate is expanding its presence at Gitex 2005 to ensure it has a suitable platform from which to launch its first ever software programme.

Visitors to i-mate’s stand in hall six of the Dubai World Trade Centre will be able to get the full lowdown on the firm’s innovative 1-View solution. The application lets users instantly access their music, photos and digitally recorded TV shows, together with their standard files and data, from wherever they are — at home, at work or away — by simply logging on to the nearest available WiFi network.

i-mate staff will run ongoing 1-View demonstrations from the firm’s show booth, outlining the potential benefits the solution can bring and detailing possible user scenarios. In what is really quite a coup for i-mate, its stand will also host a Microsoft Windows Mobile specialist from the US, who will present i-mate’s newest devices — such as its PDA2 handheld — several times each day.

“Gitex Dubai is the Middle East’s premier IT exhibition and is the ideal platform for i-mate — which has global operational headquarters in Dubai Internet City — to launch its highly anticipated key products for the forthcoming year,” says Nadine Salem, i-mate’s Middle East marketing manager.

In addition to talking up 1-View, i-mate will promote its smartphone range, which includes ‘Edge’ devices, its line of what it calls ‘handheld converged mobile devices’, which also include WCDMA products, and its new GPS device.

All of i-mate’s devices are out-of-the-box ready and in order to best suit the regional market come pre-loaded with Middle East regional operator settings and Arabic language and Islamic prayer support.

i-mate’s stand will also be open to new business enquiries, with the firm’s regional distributors, Source IT, Tech Data and Axiom all represented on its show stand.

The Middle East market is not only dynamic but well suited to helping i-mate grow its business, according to Salem.

“[The market] typically shows strong demand for the advanced features and extended applications found in the latest converged mobile devices,” she says. “i-mate has emerged as a major force in the Middle East region and it is one of i-mate’s most significant markets.”
