Samsung to target converged market

Vendor’s Gulf operation to showcase extensive product range as it looks to increase market share for printers, cameras, MP3s players, LCDs and mobile phones

Samsung Gulf Electronics will turn the digital convergence dream into a reality at this year’s Gitex, as the company showcases its expansive product portfolio, which stretches from the consumer electronics arena to the corporate IT environment.

“Printers, monitors, mobile phones, storage devices and consumer electronic products such as MP3 players, digital cameras, camcorders and LCD TVs and plasma screens will all be on display. Samsung is the company that leads the way in digital convergence and can offer the complete solution,” says K.V. Narayanan, sales manager digital information technology division at Samsung Gulf Electronics.

Samsung Gulf, the unit responsible for sales of Samsung products across the GCC with the exception of Saudi Arabia, is committed to showcasing the power of its portfolio to resellers and end-users alike. “The double storey stand will feature product displays on the ground floor with meeting rooms upstairs. This is an excellent opportunity to meet partners face-to-face and talk them through the product line-up, the roadmap for future product development and build a platform for even more success in 2006 and beyond,” adds Narayanan.

Samsung Gulf’s monitor experts will be on hand to talk through the enhanced functions of its product range and the specific designs targeted at the corporate and consumer market. On the printer side of the business — an area where Samsung has made significant inroads during the last year — the drive to recruit corporate resellers and demonstrate the value-added features of the product portfolio will continue apace.

“We want to explain the value that Samsung printing solutions deliver to corporates and we are recruiting partners to take this message to customers. Total cost of ownership is also key and our printers offer excellent reliability,” says Lancy Menezes, sales & marketing manager for digital printing at Samsung Gulf.

The vendor’s ambitions in the printing sector extend beyond the enterprise segment and the company will use Gitex to launch its photo printer range. Speculation also continues to mount that this year’s event will also witness the long-awaited official launch of Samsung notebooks into the Middle East.
