Marriott pilots pre-paid system

Marriott International is piloting a travel card system in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait that will enable travellers to pre-pay their hotel stays before leaving home. The new system is valid in all of the company’s lodging brands except the Ritz-Carlton.

Called the Marriott Prepaid Card, it follows a similar concept as a debit card and is aimed at customers who prefer to pre-pay their expenses before travelling. Travellers credit the card before departure, and then use it to settle room and hotel bills. The card allows companies to give travelling executives a card rather than cash.

“We’re excited about our new card and to be the first travel company to offer this safe and flexible pre-payment solution,” said Samir Daqqaq, vice president, global sales for the Middle East, Africa & Subcontinent.

“We see the card as the perfect travel solution. It enables customers to pay for their Marriott stay before they travel, whether on business or leisure. It’s a win-win for our customers, travel agents and our hotels,” Daqqaq added.
He explained that the prepaid cards provide an alternate form of payment to prepaid vouchers, and offer greater flexibility for the customers.

The Marriott Prepaid Card is currently available through the company’s global sales offices in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait.
