Emke takes on Al Wahda

The Abu-Dhabi based retail behemoth, Emke Group, will manage the forthcoming Al Wahda mall in the UAE capital.

Abu Dhabi-based Emke Group, owner of Lulu Hypermarkets, has taken over the management of Al Wahda mall, a new shopping center coming up in the heart of Abu Dhabi. The site is adjacent to the renowned Al Wahda football club stadium and covers an area of 1.5 million ft².

The agreement confirming the tieup was signed by Yousuf Ali, managing director of EMKE Group, and Rashid Al Zaabi, chairman of Al Wahda Club, the promoter of the mall.

The mall is expected to be ready by June 2006 and will have a 200,000 ft² hypermarket as its anchor store.

“We are indeed delighted to take over the management of this great project and I am sure that with full the support of the authorities we will be able to make this shopping mall one of the best in the region,’ said Yousuf Ali.
