Construction work on Emaar’s Cairo Heights to start this year

Emaar enters the Egyptian property market with the launch of a US $4 billion residential community

Emaar Properties has unveiled its US $4 billion (AED14.5 billion) Cairo Heights development — the group’s first large-scale project in Egypt. The project is being developed by Emaar Misr, a subsidiary of Emaar Properties and Al Nasr Housing & Development Company, and an affiliate of Egypt’s Housing Tourism & Cinema Holding Company.

The development will stretch over the Mukattam suburb and has been designed and built to harmonise with the contours of the area. Construction will begin later this year and is scheduled to be completed in 2010.

The developer believes that Cairo Heights will offer residents welcome relief from the congestion of downtown Cairo, and a contrast in style and outlook to anything the capital has seen before.

Each of the Cairo Heights’ seven districts will offer a variety of residential buildings ranging from low-rise on the hillside to medium-rise (three to 22 storeys) further down the slope.

The borders of each village will be defined by interior loop roads, though they will be integrated into residential neighbourhoods with internal roads and pedestrian walkways linking the village centres.

The highest and most visible point of the site will be developed as a town centre.

Cairo Heights is Emaar’s latest overseas project as it
continues to develop high-end masterplanned residential communities in major cities around the world.
