HCS talks intelligent panels

Structured cabling manufacturer HES Cabling Systems (HCS) will be aiming to impress visitors to this year’s Gitex with two of its key products — its 10GB Ethernet cables and its forthcoming intelligent panel software system, which the vendor believes no other company can provide.

“These products are brand new,” explains general manager Ergun Akan. “So new in fact that our intelligent panel system is actually still at the testing stage.”

Although Akan is not yet prepared to name the new software, the solution will be on display to visitors to this year’s event and will, says Akan, offer buyers many potential benefits.

“It’s low-cost and buyers can implement this system by buying just a few pieces of hardware, in order to implement the system with their existing network,” he says. “The most important thing is that a cable manufacturer, in other words us, is developing this software rather than ‘OEMing’ it. That’s the difference,” Akan adds.

According to Akan, the decision to exhibit at Gitex each year is a no-brainer, as the show is where most of HCS’ valuable contacts are made. “Gitex is really important for us,” he explains. “I find almost all my contacts at Gitex. My first time at the show, I collected business cards from 22 countries,” Akan adds.

Although HCS does business, and is keen to grow, on a global scale, the Middle East is currently the company’s second biggest market after Europe. “Up and coming countries for us would include Qatar,” Akan says. “While the big existing market at present for us is probably Saudi.”

“Wherever a company is using more than two computers, you need a network,” he surmises. “From governments to the private sector, you can use all our cables and components.”
