Etihad's Crystal Cargo ramps up its operations
The UAE flag carrier increases its frequency to India, adding a thrice weekly service to New Delhi.
Etihad Crystal Cargo has begun an all cargo service to New Delhi, offering additional cargo capacity to the capital of India. Previously, Etihad Airways operated three weekly flights to New Delhi on an Airbus A330-200, with a payload capacity of 15 tonnes on each flight. The new regional freighter route now adds an additional payload of 39 tonnes, operating once a week.
“The all cargo service to the Indian capital complements our existing cargo services in our network and the Airbus allows us to accept main deck cargo and greater volumes for Indian shipping customers,” said Ingo Roessler, acting head of cargo & mail, Etihad Crystal Cargo.
New Delhi, the third destination on the Indian subcontinent for Etihad Crystal Cargo is hoping to expand its cargo network. Already flying to Mumbai, Chennai and Khartoum, as well as Frankfurt, Amman and Milan, the carrier is also looking at other all cargo destinations in Africa, the CIS countries, Europe and Asia.
By the end of 2006, the airline expects to add an additional four regional freighter aircraft, bringing the total fleet to six freighters.
