2004: A good year for BEA
Gartner’s latest market share data shows BEA Systems to be among the top three vendors in three market segments for last year.
Research and analysis company, Gartner, has positioned BEA Systems, as one of the top three vendors in three different markets for 2004 — application servers, portal products and application platform suites — as well as in the overall application, integration and middleware (AIM) and portal market. The ranking is based on licence revenue market share.
Gartner's “Market Share: AIM and Portal Software, Worldwide, 2004, Preliminary” report shows BEA held 21.7% worldwide share for application servers in 2004, as well as 11.6% for application platform suites; 8.9% for portal products, and 7.2% in the US$6.7 billion application integration and middleware market.
“This market share report reinforces BEA’s position as a leading independent middleware provider and the success of BEA's flagship WebLogic product line, as a diversified infrastructure platform for building and deploying enterprise applications,” according to Diyaa Zebian, general manager for the Middle East and Egypt at eSolutions BEA.
Gartner has also positioned BEA in the leaders’ quadrants of its “Magic Quadrants” for integration backbone software in 1H05, enterprise application servers for 2Q05, as well as for horizontal portal products for 2005.
Gartner assesses vendors on their vision and ability to execute and the research firm defines ‘leaders’ as vendors who are currently performing well, have a clear vision of market direction, and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.
