Carrefour hits a billion in the region
Carrefour's regional stores turned over US $1 billion in 2004, according to its local franchisee.
Carrefour stores in the Middle East turned over more than US $1 billion in 2004, according to the local Carrefour franchisee. MAF Hypermarkets, which is owned by Majid Al Futtaim Holding (75%) and France-based Carrefour (25%), now runs 13 outlets in the region.
MAF Hypermarkets plans to open five more hypermarkets by the end of 2005 and a further four by the end of 2006. Carrefour stores in the region served around 35 million customers in 2004.
